The Value Of LIFE!

I woke up in the morning and as usual switched-on the T.V in hope of some refreshment and some early morning news. All I saw in the news channels was news about road accidents all around India.

Some accidents which occurred recently,

  • 7 killed in Gujarat Road Accident and 11 injured.
  • Student loses hand in School bus accident.
  • Boney Kapoor, producer, suffers minor injuries in road accident.
  • 2 dead and 3 injured as car crashes into divider.
  • 15 killed as a mini-bus rolled down a forge in Himachal.
  • 1 killed and 20 injured in bus accident in andhra.
  • A couple killed in car accident .
  • 4 die in road accident on NH near mahbubnagar.
  • 15 killed as truck hits tractor-trolley in MP.
If you people start counting the no. of accidents per day, it will out number the no. of good news in the whole day.
According to Wikipedia, traffic collisions in India are amongst the highest in the world. It says that, every year, nearly 140000 people die due to road accidents in India. That is a big number.
Rural Development Minister and Senior BJP leader, Gopinath Munde died in a road accident few days after BJP won the general elections. Death of such people is a set back for the government.

What can be the causes?
  1. Firstly, driving under the influence of liquor. According to a research, 40% of the total road accidents in India are due to this reason.
  2. Not wearing helmets. Many people feel lazy wearing helmets. When the government imposes fine on people not wearing helmets while driving, people prefer paying fine. Though some people have genuine reasons for not wearing helmets, most of them doesn't like wearing helmets.
  3. Rash Driving. Another reasons for road accidents. People feel that they look cool when they drive in a rash way. They prefer being cool over their life.
  4. Exceeding capacity. India is famous for such accidents. A bike with a capacity of 2 is loaded with 5. People think that they would save money by doing this.
  5. Seat belts. Seat belts may not reduce the no. of accidents but can reduce the impact of the accident. Even after the goverment has the wearing of seat belts compulsory, many people doesnt follow the rules.
  6. Mobile Phones. Mobiles were invented for a better communication but has been a cause of accidents many a times. Usage of mobile phones while driving can prove vital.
  7. Roads. This is also a major cause for road accidents in India. 60% of roads in India are weak and in many places there are no roads.
  8. Teenage driving. Teenagers who go for night parties are often drunk and drive recklessly.
  9. Racing. Accidents due to racing on the streets are on the rise. Watching Michael Schumacher race is definitely fascinating but trying to imitate him is dangerous. People race on streets and are often killed in accidents.
This is the value of LIFE for people now a days. For people, LIFE is fascination, LIFE is recklessness, LIFE is of no value. They attend calls while driving because they cannot waste time standing aside and talking on the phone. They prefer work over their LIFE.
